Fellowship amount under PM Research Fellowship Program 2024

The New Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) carries not only a prestigious scholarship but also a research grant of Rs 2 lakh per year for five years. This will provide a total research grant of Rs 10 lakh for five years. This PM Research Fellowship Program 2024 period will be till the end of the fourth year for integrated course students and till the end of the fifth year for B. Tech or equivalent students.

The PM Research Fellowship Program 2024 for students selected through lateral entry will continue for the duration of the student’s stay in the doctoral program. Giving importance to forward-thinking, backwardness will not pay off. Focusing on industry collaboration, efforts are being made to handle industry-sponsored fellowships using CSR funding to enrich research efforts and create linkages with academic to business applications.

Eligibility criteria for PM research scholarship 2024

Applicant must be in the final year of 4-5 year Undergraduate or 5-year Integrated M.Tech or 2 year M.Sc or five-year Undergraduate or Post Graduate Dual Degree program in Science and Technology stream from IISc/IIT/NITs/IISERS/IIEST and centrally funded Must be from IIIT. Eligible candidates must have obtained a CGPA or CPI of at least 8.0 on a 10-point scale. For all candidates who are pursuing a 5-year integrated dual degree programme, if they are awarded separate CGPA for the UG and PG parts of the program, the CGPA of the UG part of the first four years will be considered.


Candidate must have 4 or 5 year undergraduate or 5 year integrated M.Tech or 5 year integrated M.Sc or 2 year integrated M.Sc or final year of five-year undergraduate or postgraduate dual degree program in Science and Technology stream recognized in India from any other University or Institute. Must have completed. Candidate must have minimum CGPA of 8 or equivalent and also applicant must have completed graduation from any recognized university or institution with minimum score of 650 in his/her GATE subject.


The candidate must have qualified GATE or Mtech/MS in any gratifying institute or must have completed a course with a minimum CGPA or CPI of 8.0 at the end of 1st year. For candidates applying after the first semester, the CGPA or CPI requirement of 8.0 will be based on all courses, labs, and thesis completed.

Procedure to apply for PM Research Fellowship Program 2024

  • The candidate is required to apply for a regular doctoral course in an institution offering PMRF. If you get selected and your selection is from North then the institute will enroll you.
  • You must have been selected for the doctoral course at the beginning of this current semester.
  • If you have already been selected in the Doctoral course, you will be considered in Lateral Entry mode only.
  • Nomination does not guarantee acceptance of any scholarship.
  • After the nominations, the expert panel will look at the nominations and make a decision.
  • There is no central portal to apply for direct admission.
  • You have to go through one of these institutes and get admission in their doctoral course to avail the benefits of this scheme.
  • Once the Committee receives your nomination, you will receive a link to apply.
  • To apply you will be asked to send your academic background as well as establishment, research experience or internship, CV, statement of research proposal or objective, list of publications, and references.
  • There will be no quota reservation under this PM Research Fellowship Program 2024.
  • The last date for receiving nominations from the institute is 15 January 2022.
